Looking it up, I've been going to this othello tournament in Cambridge since 2002 - not every year, but probably more often than not. And I've never looked quite as cool as I do in this picture, taken (unless I'm misattributing the credit, as I often do) by James Brooks:

Also, I did really rather well, finishing fifth and winning seven games out of eleven. And I could have (undeservedly) beaten Mark Plowman if I'd noticed that he played a dramatically losing move right at the very end of our game. But neither of us noticed until analysing the game afterwards, and it wouldn't have been a fair result for me to win, anyway. And I did beat the other three representatives of the Plowman family who came to this one, including a win against patriarch Guy that also probably deserves the "undeservedly" tag. It was a great weekend!
