Over the last week or so, the most-viewed posts on this blog, by far, have been Into the Chipmultiverse, followed by The Quality Comics Funny Animal Universe.
Whenever I see statistics like that, I always wonder if it's come from actual people finding one of my enlightening posts and circulating it around all their friends (hey, it does happen, sometimes!), or whether it's just evil computers taking over the world as usual and latching onto some keyword. And since they've just announced a new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie, I suppose we don't have to speculate too far about why a computer might find a post all about Alvin and the Chipmunks.
But why that particular one, where I talk about "The Chipmunks' Merry Christmas" from 1959 and "Little Alvin and the Mini-Munks" from 2005? I mean, it's nice to think it's helping people learn about some of the more obscure backwaters of Chipmunk history, but it makes me feel sorry for my many other posts about them, and that the world is being deprived of reading about my infatuation with Simon, particularly as documented in the wonderful "ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks" - for starters, please go here and read about the high point of all Chipmunk fiction, season five. Now THAT is what they should be trying to emulate for the new movie, and I bet they don't.
And the more interesting question - why would computers latch onto the other post, about Marmaduke Mouse and his friends? I mean, it does mention Cholly Chipmunk, but not in a way that would leap out to a search engine. Maybe this one's been found by a real actual person?

Just as long as it's not the kind of nonsensical AI comment attached to a link to an evil website - although I've only ever had like one of those, and you'd think I'd get more. Do computers in fact shun my blog? I bet if Simon invented a machine to search the best Chipmunks blog posts, it'd find this blog straight away!
