What with being ill and/or lazy, I've really skimped on the all-important last-week-before-the-world-championship memory practice. And with my brother and the TV people coming round this weekend, I'll have to be really disciplined on the bank holiday Monday and do a whole solid day of non-stop cramming numbers and cards and things into my brain, just to get myself up to match fitness. Then it's give-the-poor-brain-a-rest time until the competition starts next Friday. Woo! And by give the brain a rest, I mean maybe spend some time working on a better system for abstract images, because I can do that without cluttering up my memory banks and it really needs doing.
Wow, only a week and a bit, and this whole memory mania of the last couple of months will be all over. No more competitions planned for months and months and months. It's sad...
According to the Sky News press reviewer a couple (3/4?) of Sunday's ago, you're the guy who's (rough quote) 'gonna win back the world memory title for Britain' this year. No pressure.
ReplyDeleteAre you seriously doing training on monday? I stopped using my journeys a few days ago - the chance, that some images interfere is quite high, isnt it?
ReplyDeleteOr do you have got so many locations, that you can keep pracitising while having those meant for the competiton resting?
I think a well known vice-worldchampion even stops using his journeys 3 weeks before the event.
Hopefully the event will be organized really well - I am alrady getting a bit nervous ;) I can hardly imagine of any event, where I had been so excited a week before. Maybe the first World Championships I competed in, but I dont like the comparison, because that has been in Manchester and was a complete disappointment for me. And Bahrain will be GREAT :) (I hope)
I think I'll be fine training on Monday - that gives me three days clear without using my journeys, and that's usually enough, I hope. And if I don't train on Monday, I won't feel like I'm ready...
ReplyDeleteDr. Yip seems to have about 60.000 locations. He can practice as much as he wants, even if I that he does (with an exception regarding the loger disciplines and the cards).
